Getting Ready For Your Move

One Month + Before Your Move

  • Contact Clean Cut Movers and discuss your needs.

  • Order boxes and packing supplies

  • Start packing, just a couple boxes per night will get the ball rolling and give you an insight into the work load ahead.

  • Separate what you want to throw out or donate. Contact any charities that may pick up in your area.

  • Visit the Post Office and fill out a Change of Address form.

  • Confirm loading dock/elevator times with your buildings (if applicable).

Two Weeks Prior to Your Move

  • Notify your utility providers to cancel/set up service

  • Assess your progress with packing and adjust your efforts accordingly

One Week Before Your Move

  • Confirm your move with CCM. This is a good time to request extra packing help or materials if needed.

  • Make a change of address with your monthly subscriptions delivered to your home.

  • Make sure friends and family have your new address.

The Day Before

  • If you can take 2 days off of work, take off this day and move day. There is always more to do to prepare for your move, and nobody wants to be up all night packing.

  • Set aside items you do not want the movers to take. Clearly mark them as DO NOT TAKE.

  • Make sure all other boxes are clearly marked on multiple sides with their destination at your new place

    • Living Room = LR

    • Dining Room = DR

    • Master Bedroom = MR

    • FRAGILE, etc

  • Place items you will need on moving day in a separate bag that will remain untouched. This should include necessities such as your wallet, checkbook, closing paper work, and car/house keys.

  • Defrost and clean out refrigerators and freezers, drain gasoline from yard machines, make plans to transport any propane canisters yourself.

  • Make sure doorways are easily accessible and not blocked by boxes inside or snow outside.

Please Note: Due to insurance regulations clients cannot ride in the moving truck with the crew. Please make arrangements for your own ride to the delivery point.

Moving Day

  • When the movers arrive give them a tour of your place and point out any furniture or other items you DO NOT want them to take.

  • Point out any damaged, fragile, or sentimental items that need special attention.

  • If possible, offer bottled water, Gatorade, and sandwiches throughout the day to keep the movers hydrated and energized.

  • Make sure someone is home at both locations to answer questions and direct where furniture should be placed.
